Vermeil Seashell Earrings
Illuminate your face with a burst of natural fun at the jawline. When you add yellow conus, pink clam shells, and red coral, no one can look anywhere else. Surprisingly light-weight and comfortable, you can wear these earrings everywhere and be happy. The vermeil has 2 mils of gold covering the sterling silver and all are signed.
About the shells: These rare shells, some a century old, are curated from Christa’s travels and estate shell collections. Some of the shells are so rare they would sell for the same price as the earrings. Since the shells are not drilled, they retain their value.
Questions About Our Vermeil Seashell Earrings
What is Vermeil?
- Vermeil is 925 Sterling Silver with an overlay of 18-Karat Gold.
What is 925 Silver?
- The number 925 represents the 92.5% of pure silver present.
Mexican and Indian jewelry have lower Silver content, thus oxidize quickly.
Is there good Vermeil and bad Vermeil?
- Yes there is. Because my designs are American made it was impossible for me to get good Vermeil. In the last year we have procured a German machine, which produces quality Vermeil that looks like pure Gold and doesn’t tarnish easily. I am proud of our Vermeil now.
