Christa Wilm began her career working with the media as a communications professional and producer of television commercials. Inspired by European underwater fantasies, she made a 180 degree turn to design American rare shell art forms. Christa’s vision spurred an international seashell-decor revival twenty years ago, when she began using sea life in contemporary works of art. Since then, Christa has brought to life ears, necklines, wrists, and fingers with her luxury jewelry.
The jewelry line is an outgrowth of her interior and exterior shell designs. To experience the color, shape, and texture of Christa’s South Seashells atelier designs — chandeliers, mirrors, paneling, and decorations — visit Palm Beaches' Breakers Hotel Spa, Faena and Mandarin Oriental hotels in Miami and Philippe Starck's Sahara in Las Vegas to see her work. Her designs are also included in a Philippe Stark hotel in Las Vegas and Ralph Lauren runway projects, and displayed in the homes of discriminating shell-art lovers worldwide. Christa has an atelier in West Palm Beach, and her products are sold in fine boutiques on Palm Beach, in Charleston, New York and Savannah.
Widely copied but never equaled in design or quality, Christa’s South Seashells has been featured in several fine design books and top national design magazines, and she was named a “style maker” by Luxe magazine in 2014.
